Welcoming Prayer      ]
At the hour of Nones, we are preparing to finish the day well, practicing the art of letting go, and
pondering things we must leave undone; all of which can usher us to a place of contemplating our own vulnerabilities, frailties, and mortality. It is also a time by which we may have accumulated a lot of negative and false things as the day has gone on… and we need some healing and restoration.
1.    Focus, feel and sink into the feelings, emotions, thoughts, sensations and commentaries in your body.
2.    Welcome God in the feelings, emotions, thoughts, commentaries or sensations in your body by saying, “Welcome.”
3.    Let go by repeating the following sentences:
·        “I let go of the desire for security, affection, control.”
·        “I let go of the desire to change this feeling/sensation.”

[Children can be sent off to bed, after which this

Examen   Saving FACE (Fears, Attachments, Control, & Entitlement) [Reimagining the Examen]
1.    Center – Relax and let your mind quiet down. Take a deep breath & ask God to make his presence known.
2.    Gratitude – Thank God for one or two of the blessings, big and small, received today.
3.    Fears – Looking over the day, ask God to show you what Fears were predominant in your heart. Dig deeply to the real fears. Name the fear, simply take note of it, and move on.
4.    Attachments – Looking over the day, ask God to show you any Attachments
to which you’ve been clinging (person, idea, behavior, etc.). Pay attention to emotional attachments. Identify it, take note of it, and move on.
5.    Control – Looking over the day, ask God to show you situations in which you tried too hard to exert control (people, organizations, outcomes, etc.). Admitting we are controlling is hard, so ask God for courage. When you find
your obsession with control, acknowledge it, and move on.
6.    Entitlements – Looking over the day, ask God to show you any notions you have had of entitlement. If you find a false entitlement, name it before God and move on. (Examples: I’m the victim/I work hard… I deserve ___.)
7.    Focus – Place the four discoveries before God, and ask him to show you the one most strongly affecting your life right now. Focus on it, ask for insight and forgiveness.
8.    Difference – Ask God to show you what tomorrow would look like if you were free form this issue. How would emotions, thoughts, words, actions be different?
9.    Surrender – Give this issue to God, asking for help in living in the freedom of God’s mercy.
