Your paths are well-trodden.
Along them you and your saints have carried healing and love
to ordinary men and women where they are.
Teach me to serve them as you serve –
With patience, simplicity, reverence, and love.
Your spirit is not given that we may escape
         Life’s friction and demands,
But so that we may live the common life
As you would have it lived – on earth as in heaven.

Welcoming Prayer
[Kids may look at media for this prayer time here:              ]
At the hour of Nones, we are preparing to finish the day well, practicing the art of letting go, and
pondering things we must leave undone; all of which can usher us to a place of contemplating our own vulnerabilities, frailties, and mortality. It is also a time by which we may have accumulated a lot of negative and false things as the day has gone on… and we need some healing and restoration.
1.    Focus, feel and sink into the feelings, emotions, thoughts, sensations and commentaries in your body.
2.    Welcome God in the feelings, emotions, thoughts, commentaries or sensations in your body by saying, “Welcome.”
3.    Let go by repeating the following sentences:
·        “I let go of the desire for security, affection, control.”
·        “I let go of the desire to change this feeling/sensation.”

Kyrie
Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Kyrie eleison. Christe eleison. Kyrie eleison.

[Children can be sent off to bed, after which this

Examen
“Love Examen” (based on I Corinthians 13)
Has my love been patient?
Has my love been kind?
Have I been jealous? About what?
Have I been boastful? About what?
Have I been arrogant? Why?
Have I been rude? Why?
Have I sought my own advantage?  To what end?
Have I been irritable?
It’s not about the other, but me.
So what is it in me that set me off?
Have I been holding grudges, or keeping records
of wrong things? How can I forgive & release it?
Have I been happy over injustice? Why?
Have I been happy with the truth?
What truth can I rejoice in this afternoon?
Have I put up with all things?
What lets me do that?
Have I trusted in all things?
What would heal my trust?
Have I hoped for all things?
What are my hopes now?
Have I endured all things?
What needs my resilience?
Love never fails. Thank you, Lord,
that love never fails.
